All this was confirmed by the ISO 9001 Certificate honored to EgyptAlum in 1996. Progress of Aluminum Company of Egypt is evident over its 25 years life. In the year 1972, we started our existing smelter with only 6 potrooms with 46 cells each. Now, there are 10 potrooms in operation, all Soderberg. Conversion to prebacked anodes cells is now a major project of the company; 2 new prebaked potrooms are under construction and converting the old 10 potrooms is now under way. Hot and cold rolling mills that started production last year are one of our major recent additions.
